04/30/2008 Fabian Nicieza, Reilly Brown, and Ron Lim X-Men, Cable and Deadpool and Silver Surfer 2008 MARVEL/$24.99 Score: 9 (of ten) Oddly enough, this is technically the last and 8th volume of the Cable and Deadpool series, despite lacking the tradedress. True, Cable doesn't appear in the volume except in a cameo, but now this collection will just stand as a single volume-- leaving the Cable and Deadpool series to an odd conclusion. This volume is a lot of fun. Deadpool travels through time to find Captain America and a foul-mouthed Bucky, teams up with two versions of the Fantastic Four and fights a bunch of Venom-infected Dinosaurs. Oh, and did we mention Spider-Man and Wolverine make appearances along with-- Dr. Strange. Fabian pulled out all the stops with this swan song. His collaborations with Reilly Brown really work well here. They play to each other's strengths very well. Brown is an amazing talent. Someone needs to get this guy on a monthly. NOW. |
