Eyes Set to Kill
04/22/2009 Eyes Set to Kill is undeniably a band filled with endless talent. The songwriting is impressive, the playing is energetic {the drums are even mixed well}, and Alexia Rodriguez has one of those voices that can tell no lie. Arguably she has the best pipes in the genre – it’s just unfortunate that smooth voice in constantly interrupted by needless growls from Brandon Anderson. Rodriguez’s voice and lyrics carry a sinister undertone that would be endlessly more poignant if they weren’t broken by regular bouts of testosterone induced barking. Honestly there isn’t much to breakdown song by song – because in theory every song on Reach is really great. But at the same time every song on Reach is also ruined by Anderson’s outbursts. You can pick any track and it’s almost guaranteed you’ll enjoy it – if you can get passed pack of wild dogs it sounds like, somehow, got loose in the studio while Rodriguez was recording her vocals. Eyes Set to Kill – I want to like your record – in fact I kind of do – but next time let’s keep Brandon Anderson’s microphone off, it’s simply too jarring for as talented of a band as you all obviously are. |
